Gigabit connections

I'm thinking about upgrading to Gigabit.  Before I do this I need to know what changes in my home.  I currently have installed a verizon gigbit router.  Does the wiring in the house stay the same?

You don’t say what speed you are now. You don’t say if you have just internet only.

if in any upgrade to gigabyte it will be switched to ethernet from MOCA (coaxial)
