HSI not working... again

I've lived in Somerville for 13 months now and for 10 months the internet has worked perfectly 100% of the time. In July the internet began to turn off intermittently. Mostly at night. This escalated into switching off a lot at midnight time. I assumed it was related to the storm after effects. We also installed DirecTV. This now has become something that happens for 8 or so hours a day. Impossible to know when it will work or when it wont. I've called Verizon so many times I know the number off by heart. Useless technicians who troubleshooted and fixed the internet over the phone but didn't deal with the intermittent problem. So anyway, finally got out a technician who was amazing (G29!). Fixed everything and the internet was running really fast for the first time in months. Realized how slow it had been dragging since July. Famous last words. Came home today after a few hours and the internet was off again! I removed the connection from the modem to the DirecTV. It went back on a few minutes later but I honestly feel like crying. I just need to know that it will work ALL THE TIME. I feel like it might go

In terms of what was wrong, the DSL light was flickering and not solid for months. Now it is solid. The internet light has flickered and gone off a couple of times. The main thing is that the internet is no longer working as fast as it did this afternoon. I am so sick of Verizon and things not working.What can I do?

Quick question, does the DirecTV receiver have a DSL Filter attached to the receiver from the Wall Jack? I take it your DSL works again when the receiver is not connected to the phone line?
