Need some help. I recently got Verizon FIOS Gigabit Internet service. I have 3 pc's in the house all with gigabit nic adapters.
PC: HP 6300
OS: Win7 64-bit
NIC: Intel 82579LM
DRIVER: v12.15.31.4
SPEED: 844 down 964 up
PC: HP 8200
OS: Win10 64-bit
NIC: Intel 82579LM
DRIVER: v12.15.31.4
SPEED: 504 down 931 up
PC: HP z600
OS: Win10 64-bit
NIC: Broadcom BCM5764 NetXtreme
DRIVER: v16.8.0.3
SPEED: 361 down 499 up
I have narrowed the troubleshooting down to the pc's by testing the speed using the same nic cable and same port in router. As you can see my HP 6300 and HP 8200 both have the same NIC and driver version and the only difference is the OS. The speeds on my 6300 are fine. It's just my 8200 and Z600 I would like to get closer to my 6300 speeds. Any one have any ideas?

Many factors can affect the speed. The radios in the units, the type of OS, the number of users on at one time etc. The 8200 is not that far off from posted speeds of 940/880 but you could try calling 1-800-VERIZON and have them test the speed from their server to your home router minus any need for the different computers.
Verizon goes by the speed to/from their propritary servers and if within their numbers they do no more troubleshooting.
Most users don't need high speeds and many times anything over 150/150 is probably overkill. But the price is great for gigabyte so when I had 150/150 I jumped at the $20 increase in cost. But my wife and I don't need gigabyte speed but its nice to know we have it if ever needed.
24 devices on it. However to be fair we had 15/1 with Time Warner and same devices and it was fast.
