How can I get the fastest available speed from my plan?

Hi there,

I've got the Internet Enhanced service (3.1-7.1) and I average 3.5/down. Is it possible for Verizon to check my line to see if I can sustain higher speeds?

#1 It would help to know your modem's transceiver stats,

#2 If you don't know how to get that info, it would help to know:

a) The brand and model of your modem.

b) The brand and model of your router.

Your line is believe it or not already at the max speed for 3Mbps. If you're paying for more than 3Mbps, such as up to 7.1Mbps or up to 15Mbps, you should be getting more than what you have. I'd double check with billing or the Verizon website as to what you have, but what I said stands true unless you are on a Remote DSLAM, which Verizon does not sell anything higher than 3Mbps out of in 99% of the cases.

Now that the information above has been established, can you provide a speedtest for us? Use http://www.speedtest.net , http://speedtest.verizon.net/ or http://testmy.net to give us a result. I just want to ensure what you're getting now is actually coming in and not being slowed by another (well-known?) issue with Verizon's DSL service.
