How do I know if a router is compatible with Verizon 200 Mbps? recommendation as far as any models?

I am planning on buying my own router but I can not find a way of knowing if the router will be compatible or not with the 200Mbps speed I have with Verizon. How do I know if the router will be compatible or not with Verizon. Thanks.

Fios Quantum Gateway router (aka BHR4, G1100, AC 1750) is capable of 940/880 Mbps on Ethernet. Its wireless and MoCA interfaces are older and slower than G3100. G3100 has 802.11ax WiFi 6 and can pull 600Mbps+ on WiFi 6 wireless clients. G3100 has MoCA 2.5, which can achieve 2.5Gbps throughput with other MoCA 2.5 devices.

G1100 only has 802.11ac WiFi 5 with a throughput of 400Mbps+, and MoCA 2.0 unbonded capped at 500Mbps.

Bottom line: if you don't have WiFi 6 and MoCA 2.5 devices, G3100 is practically the same as G1100.

Any router by Netgear or Asus or TP Link Archer with Ax/AC/B/G/N etc. with external antennas for better wifi will be sufficient.

you need only release the IP address prior to removing the verizon router if you have one. If you don’t then it’s a easy setup process. Unless you have TV which requires a different set up. You can find the different configurations at

But what about specifically, the Verizon Fios Gateway?  It's what I needed to get 100Mbps, but now Verizon is pushing the Verizon Router G3100 if I want any faster speeds.  Do I really have to spend $300 to $400 on a new router, or will my Verizon Fios Gateway AC1750 still be able to access the 200Mbps speed?  Thanks in advance for your comments!
