How often are DSL Lines tested for capacity

How often are the lines tested for speed capacity, so that download performance can be optimized.  I recently had my lines repaired yet again due to voice static and in the end Verizon has now dropped my performance to a level lower then when there was static on the line.  The tech insists that there is nothing he can do, and refuses to believe I ever had faster service.  While the line men say see you in a few months when the lines break yet again.  I just want to get back to 1.8 mps from 1.3 and FIOS will never be installed in Brookhaven regardless of what the techs say.  In the end it appears that Verizon just wants out of the home phone business.

The lines tend to be tested nightly at around 2-3AM. Give it a few days to go back up in speed, though.

Realisitically if your line is capable of more speed, you should be able to request Verizon to turn the speed up right away and keep it there for good. If you post up your modem Transceiver statistics we can see if there is more headroom for speed.

Thanks, After the last time I had a DSL specialist here my speed was boosted up to 1.8 to 1.9 dependent upon the day.  Even when I had the static and hum in the phone the Attainable Rate was 2432.  After they last fixed the lines I was on with support for over an hour they did not believe me and Would not adjust the speed up.  Next step is to buy my own domain and get a host provider, so that I can become ISP neutral.

SNR Margin (dB):7.413.0
Attenuation (dB):63.531.5
Output Power (dBm):11.915.8

D (interleaver depth):161

WIth stats like those they won't be able to push any more. The line simply won't go that high as it is. If Verizon had to move you to a new wire pair, they will need to double check that your line has also been conditioned again for DSL. There is likely some excess wire that is hanging around somewhere which should really be cut off.

For this, keep working with Verizon to get the DSL service improved. You're not even at the correct sync rate for 1.5Mbps, but you're almost there.
