Before I started using this router(Actiontec GT704-WG-B) my old router let me changed the mac address to anything I want. Once I changed the mac address and turned off the router and on, it obtained a new public ip address(what the world see's my ip address as).

There is no function like that on the router home page.

Can anyone help me change my public ip address?

Someone said I can call verizon and have them release my ip and give me a new one. But I don't want to call verizon everytime i want to change my ip address. I need a way to change my ip address anytime I want.

Changing the MAC address is about the only reliable way to get a new IP address. However the ability to clone a MAC address isn't present on all modem/routers. Failing that you can release the IP address, turn off the router and wait some period of time (often 12-24 hours), and if you are lucky, someone will be assigned your old IP address, and when the router powers up again, you'll get a new IP address.  This process however is neither fast or especially reliable.

I refer to the IP addresses Verizon hands out as semi-static. IN theory they could change whenever the IP lease is up (in some cases, hourly), in reality they change over time, but very slowly.. Months to years between changes in ordinary circumstances.

Why are you looking to change your IP address all the time? Is privacy that much of a paranoia to the point where you're not confident in your network's security or are you trying to evade bans from Game servers or forums? If location is a concern, any decent GeoIP database can figure out locations of IPs quickly after an IP goes into service, and they're pretty darn accurate.

If you're on PPPoE, disconnect your PPPoE session for a few minutes. Re-connect it and you should have a new IP. With DHCP, you're sort of stuck for a few hours until the DHCP lease breaks with no connection to the Internet.

Privacy is privacy. No such thing as being "paranoid" just because you want privacy.

Anyways on the if I go to my setting by submitting the IP into the browaser it lets me choose between PPoe and DHCP.

Im also trying to change IPs without having to call Verizon everytime. I have the same modem/router with DHCP enabled (dynamic). Am I really stuck with the IP for such a long time?
