I'm upset because I've been fumbling around the site trying to find out how to set up my primary xxx@verizon.net email address (the install guys pretty much took off without any user guide left behind or doing any of this). The only place I get to on the help site wants me to download/install some software on my PC. I do *not* want to install any software that I will someday struggle to remove or try to figure out why my computer is now so slow. been there, done that.
I tried to do live chat, not available. Tried to send a message from the support site, it gives me 70 characters (hello?) and then sends me a bunch of automated email suggestions that aren't helpful. Then i call the 888 number and get some guy who is clearly new to computers and reading from the manual. he said the only way to set up my email is to install the software so it can "link my accounts together".
ok folks, this is simply POP and SMTP. *Please* tell me how to do this without installing any software. I just want an email address I can set up in Thunderbird for occasional email (I never give out my 'real' one so this will be for other stuff).
Hopefully some real, knowledgeable humans will read this and there is an answer. :^)
TIA! Bill
Ok, the way to set up your primary email address is to log into Verizon Central (verizon.net) and go to the My Account page. There will be a spot there to set up your username, which will be your email address. When your account is created, Verizon assigns it what they call a "vzid" - This will start with either "vze" or "res" and then several numbers and/or letters. You will need this to log in the first time. If you do not have this id, you may have to call tech support to get it. They can also reset the default password for you if you need it to get in initially.
Hope this helps!
You cannot create or rename your default email account. You don't need any software actually, just need to be able to log into verizon.net and use the VOLid that somegirl mentioned. If you need it, tech support or even I can assist you.

Absolutely. Just Private message your billing account name and address for security purposes over to me and I will get it back to you right away. If you do not know your password and I reset it for you then you will have 24 hours to go to my account edit password and change it to a new/permanent password before it expires.
