We understand that there has been some confusion regarding files that had been created via the FTP process and which have not been accessible on the Personal Web Space server since August 21, 2011. If you still have FTP created files residing on your Personal Webspace that you need to have deleted off the Personal Webspace server, please contact the HSI or FiOS tech support by calling 1-800-Verizon. These files then need to be manually removed by our server team. You will not be able to edit or remove FTP created files via the SiteBuilder tool; however, files created via SiteBuilder are not impacted by this change and you can continue to edit and delete those files within SiteBuilder.
Calling Verizon tech support on this is useless. I spent two hours getting transferred around today, and no one could figure out how to delete the files. I don't want to continue paying extra storage on FTP'd files I can no longer access, but I'm ready to give up.
I'm sorry you are having difficulty. An agent with access to your account will reach out to you directly by email, private message in the Forums and/or the billing telephone number on your Verizon account for more information or to help you resolve your issue.

Someone please HELP! I have the same problem as the other respondent here. 40% of my web space is occupied with old files that I can't delete. I contacted customer service in India and showed her the message here, about calling Verizon service because there was nothing I could do- "These files then need to be manually removed by our server team. You will not be able to edit or remove FTP created files via the SiteBuilder tool". She claimed that "personal web space was gone" and therefore there was nothing that she could do. It all took about an hour, she tried really hard and kept on talking to supervisors who were not familiar with the problem. I don't know if she ever really understood the situation as we are two cultures and she is half way around the world. I wanted to scream but she did not seem to understand the nuances of English. Someone please help!
Just a suggestion.....
Copy or download the stuff that works with site builder, and try to un-allocate the space, give it to another member of your household for maybe 24 hours, then take it back and re-do it with site builder.
Logic dictates if the whole thing is un-allocated, it will be wiped and you can start anew.
I have not tried it because I like mine frozen in time the way it is. I have other domains and hosts I "play on" so the Verizon space is just to use it up. If and when I decide to change it, I will try that method myself.
Cordially,
Gerry
Problem solved, 7 days, two 2 hour phone calls, 8 emails.
Took two emails in my case.
However, they continued to BILL ME for the $4.95 for the extra space and took a third email to get the fee eliminated and I got ONE MONTH refunded. I have been fighting this battle since they stopped FTP, which is what I used to maintain my website with FrontPage. I really think they owe me a refund back to the elimination of FTP as I could no longer access, maintain or delete files on my Personal Web Space site and that was the only reason I upgraded from the default 10 meg storage.
I gave up part of the fight, and Domained via Verizon, which supports FrontPage and FTP allowing me to once again access my website material. It only cost me $1 more than the fee for the extra 50 meg on the old servers AND lets me pick a decent address for the site rather than that obscure mysite.verizon.net/whatever/ address.
One concern is my account is STILL showing 60meg of storage, and I cannot adjust it one way or the other, it says my account is unavailable. I am waiting to see what happens next. I love a mystery thriller.....
