I have a westell 6100 modem from Verizon and ever since a bad power outage during a storm two weeks ago the modem has been intermittently dropping the Internet connection "light". When this happens, my computer stays connected to the network via "local only" and I can't access the web.
Sometimes when it's bad the internet light turns red as opposed to not being on. Also, very rarely does the phone get a good amount of static when the internet drops.
Any suggestions?
Hi Kylelipp, losing signal can be attributed to outside intereference (check your filters). The wiring going to the modem (try a different phone cable and/or jack). Could also be firmware (upgrade by going to 192.168.1.1 for 6100 Pro line or www.verizon.net/versalinkupdate if u have 6100 Lite Line). If the issue remains, you may need to get a new modem.
I'm having a similar problem with a Westell 327W. My filters seem fine (how do you check a filter anyway?) Isit possible to exchange this for a better device?
