Internet speed horribly slow

I am using a brand new computer with Windows 7 64 bit Premium Edition, and I can't even watch videos on YouTube!

Also any page on the internet is slow to load.

Here is a copy of my speed report from dslreports.com:

<a href="http://speedtest.dslreports.com"><img border=0 src="http://www.dslreports.com/im/99869921/7948.png"></a>

I am soooo tired to turning my modem off, waiting 10 seconds, and waiting another 45 secs to reconnect to the internet.

Please help.

@Omega888, copy and paste the test data into your post.  The link with your data doesn't work.  Also, tell us what service package/speed you have.

Hi,

Here are the test results in text format:

Speed Test #99869921 by dslreports.com Run: 2011-12-06 10:03:46 EST Download: 713 (Kbps) Upload: 138 (Kbps) In kilobytes per second: 87 down 16.8 up Boost: 814 Latency: 47 ms Tested by server: 4 flash User: 1815190 @ dslreports.com User's DNS: verizon.net Compared to the average of 391 tests from verizon.net: * download is 95% worse, upload is 98% worse

My broadband plan is 512 kbps - 1 Mbps...I've never even come close to 1 Mbps.

Thanks for your help.

Believe it or not, the speeds that you are showing are actually supposed to be the norm for your plan...  It is up to 1 Mbs for downloads.  I am told that the service is "metered" at anywhere from 645 Kbs to 770 Kbs or so.  I have same plan, and your stats look great to me, because I have 210 to 380 Kbs maximum download speeds.  So far, no resolution in sight either..   However, if the service keeps dropping, that is a separate problem.  It should not drop out and force you to restart your session.

Woman Sad

Does anyone from Verizon respond in these forums?

What speed package are you paying for? It looks like you're on the old 768kbps plan which is awful slow for anything live streaming these days (even the 1Mbps speed is slow for such use). A new computer won't speed anything up in most cases when it comes down to loading speed from an Internet source.

If you can get this information for us, that would be appreciated.

By the way, these forums are expected to operate on a person to person basis. Verizon Employees stop by as a courtesy here.

You're right, I'm paying for the 768 kbps plan, but I'm not even getting that speed.

Thanks for your help.

According to: http://i.dslr.net/imc/0/0/7/9/99869921.png

You're getting your speed. That's about 89KB/s measured when downloading since there are 8 bits in a byte.

I would see about getting 1Mbps pushed to the line, even then. It's free and  it helps.

Hi,

I tried calling tech support, and she had no idea what I was talking about.  Then she transferred me to phone support (I have Verizon), and they had no idea what I was talking about, either.

I do appreciate your trying to help, though.
