Keep 1100 wifi with new 3100

I have a lot of legacy devices I would like to keep on the old 1100 modem and utilize my new 3100 router for the new devices.  Ideally using SON.  I also have FIOS TV and use coax and ethernet to connect devices.

My goal is the main wireless and network to be using the 3100 and have a wifi only with the 1100 connected vi ethernet to the 3100.  I this possible and how do I do it?

Login to the 1100 and change the IP from 192.168.1.1 and to something in the 3100's range not used by any other devices and also disable the DHCP server. Change the SSID/WPA2 to match the 3100. Connect LAN of 3100 to LAN of 1100.
