Hello there.
I've been using the DSL service for a while now, and I noticed that it's been a long time since my DSL modem had a firmware update. As of writing, my current firmware version is 4.04.03.00. The reason I ask is because the URL for retrieving update information has been invalid for a long time now:
http://www.westell.com/upgrades/model6100/E99-610015-00.xml
I've looked everywhere to see if maybe information for changing the URL or getting the latest firmware file seperately and I turned up nothing. The Verizon page (http://www.verizon.com/Support/Residential/internet/highspeed/troubleshooting/network/firmwareupgrad... appears to be using an even older firmware version (4.03.02.04) than the one currently on my modem. I located another page that seems to have a later version of the firmware (located here: http://www.westell.com/extranet-verizon-cne-support.html) for 07.02.03.00.rel.upg, but the URL link for the file is also down.
I just want to make sure I have the latest firmware updates, or at least the ability to get them.
Thanks!
I already mentioned that URL in the first post. The firmware in the flash software appears to be an older version currently on my modem.
I haven't seen a firmware upgrade come along for the Westell modems in a few years. Chances are you won't be finding any more. If one were available, it would have been pushed out by Verizon during the overnight hours.
Dump the 6100 and get something newer. After reboots, my 6100 continuously dropped its speed over several days and settled at less than 1Mbps. Not too good for a 3-7Mbps account. Got so bad I put it on a timer to reboot every night. Much happier with an new Actiontec.
