Losing my mind here

We have had Verizon for the past 15 years. A couple years ago we were having to reset the router about once a day so I purchased a new one. The problem has only gotten worse! We reset it a minimum of 5 times a day. Most days it's more like 10. I pay for the highest speed internet and can barely use it! I have to take online classes and can't rely on my connection. I can't connect directly with an Ethernet cable because my laptop doesn't have a port to do so. If I have to get on for my class, every other person in the house has to shut off their wi-fi and turn off all the tv's. This is extremely annoying. Many times we reset it and the wi-fi refuses to reconnect to anything. We also live in an area where fios is unavailable , and basically have no other option. My neighbor is dealing with the same issues as well. I feel like Verizon knows this so they refuse to fix the issues and continue to take our money every month for a service we can barely use.

Look into satellite providers. They have guaranteed speeds 4 to 5 times faster than DSL

#1 Visit http://www.giganews.com/line_info.html and post up the Traceroute the page shows, if you wish. Be aware that the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace)  might contain a hop with your IP address in it. Remove that line. What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.

#2 Can you provide the Transceiver Statistics from your modem?

If you don't know how to get that info:

a) What is the brand and model of your modem?

b) If you have a RJ-45 WAN port router connected to the modem: What is the brand and model of that RJ-45 WAN port router?

#3 Even If you know how to get the Transceiver Statistics from your modem and you have a RJ-45 WAN port router connected to the modem: What is the brand and model of that RJ-45 WAN port router?

What speed do you pay for? Do you normally see a speed decline just before the disconnects start to occur? What do you normally get when it is working? Lastly, do you have a phone line and does it give clear audio, or is it full of noise like static, cracking, or humming?

Since your neighbor sees an issue, you may be served off of an overloaded DSLAM, or your neighborhood has some copper wiring issues.
