Move Verizon Fios Box from the side to the back of house

I am about to get a garage built and I would like to know if I can move the outdoor equipment on the side of my house to the back of the house?  I have everything Fios in my home so is the outside box even required since we have fiber optic cables underground?

Nowadays, Verizon prefers to install ONTs inside...usually in basements whenever possible. A Verizon technician can look things over and decide what is best for the particular situation. 🙂
