I hate to be a bit hindsighted here, knowing there has been some congestion issues lately but, since you've brought that window up I figured I'd mention it. Why not set the movie to stream at the max quality (3500) and let it buffer up for a few minutes? I did that a while back on a shoddy cable connection and it played back fine. Yeah, I know you shouldn't have to do that on FiOS 🙂

I wish I could say that worked for me but all it does is buffer at 3k but play at <1mbit. On the off chance it makes it to 3k, it'll play for about a minute before it gets stuck at a buffering screen for several minutes.

Please note that the support case was closed without resolution from Verizon. I have filed a complaint with the BBB.

Hope no one wanted to watch Netfix in HD this evening 🙂

Is this Netflix problem with FiOS happening everywhere, or just in certain markets? Because I have to say - and boy I hope I'm not jinxing myself by admitting this - but we've had no problems streaming Netflix. Have watched a bunch of things in HD lately with no major hiccups at all.

I'm not entirely sure. I'm in the PA area but I've seen people from the TX area and NJ area complain as well. The past few days have been fine except for a few nights. It seems like a lot of times it goes south around 5-6pm ET and will stay that way well past midnight.

It's always a host similar to ipv4_1.lagg0.c055.iad001.ix.nflxvideo.net when I seem to have problems. Generally, when that host pops up, I can't stream past 1mbit (low HD is 2.35mbit while high HD is 3mbit). I'm anxious to see the Netflix ISP rankings for June. I believe they typically come out 10 days into the following month.

Definitely not effecting everyone.  FIos even rates above the middle in Netflix on ratings see http://forums.verizon.com/t5/forums/replypage/board-id/FiOS_Internet/message-id/39286

June's stats for FiOS show it at 2.15mbit. 2.35mbit is the minimum required for Netflix's lowest quality HD. Also, that's an average, not a peak. Considering during non-peak hours I routinely get 3mbit (highest HD for non-OpenConnect), just imagine what the rates are during peak hours.

I personally see <1mbit during peak hours.
