No DSL Upgrade

Why can't I get my DSL bump up to the next tier? Stats support it.

Transceiver InformationDown Stream PathUp Stream Path
DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec)1184448
Margin (dB)32.526.0
Line Attenuation (dB)43.022.0
Transmit Power (dBm)10.512.1

I don't want FIOS, because I can't have the phone be power locally.

Can someone from Engineering tell me why?

Probably because they are phasing out DSL and copper in most locations that Have FiOS. I don't believe they would just go and say you must switch, but at some point the copper maintenance just wont be there. It does not make financial since for them to support the older infrastructure. If you want your copper, hold onto it as long as possible, but I would not expect Verizon Online to upgrade DSL when FiOS is available at your location. They may, and this is just my opinion.

This is a peer to peer support community, but some items do get escalated to the Verizon support team.

There's no reason why you technically, cannot get more speed. You can likely get 5M off of that. 3M is a definte.

In some cases, if you really want FiOS for Internet, there are special case scenarios where Verizon will keep the telephone on copper. If you can get FiOS for Internet, try to work out a deal like that.

You have a friend in me.  I don't want FIOS either.  I spoke to

someone yesterday that regret ever considering FIOS.  Why?

After the storm, no telephone service.

But, as prisaz stated.  Verizon is phasing out the copper landline

(read the May 10, 2013 fcc.gov blog) and giving customers extreme

difficulty for not upgrading to FIOS.  At the same token, numerous

customers are pleased with FIOS; while a growing number are

becoming displeased with the service & with the slippery billing.

Is FIOS already being replaced with smartphones?

Don't get me wrong. I love my FiOS and my smart phoned and tablets, which I am also happy to connect with ovef FiOS WiFi. WiFi is nit as fat as hardwired, but it is convenient.
