Port Forwarding

Newbie

I bought security cameras with a DVR that can be connected to the internet so I can view the cameras from my office.

My equipments are Westell modem 6100 bridged, Apple Airport Exteme.

Should I setup port forwarding on the modem or airport extreme. I am guessing airport express.

Can someone please show me how to do that so I can access my camera DVR?

Thanks in advance for your help

#1 You must install the AirPort Utility on your computer (if you have not done so already)

#2 My research tells me that is an AirPort Admin Utility for Mac, as addressed in

http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Apple/AirPortExtreme/Apache.htm

#3 My research tells me that is an Apple Utility for Windows, as addressed in

a) http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=6333

b) http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=3405

#4 If using Unix/Linux try running it with the help of Wine. I can not say if and how well it will work.

#5 Check the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS Servers on your computer.

For example if on Windows XP:

a) Go to Start -> Run.

b) Type in cmd and press enter.

c) Type in ipconfig /all and press enter.

#6 The Default Gateway on your computer is the same as the LAN IP that is shown in the Apple Utility?

I will use the example on portforward.com for the web server Apache (that URL, that I gave). The LAN IP Address shown in the sample screen shot is 10.0.1.1

#7 In the Apple Utility, go to Internet

#8 At http://portforward.com/networking/routers_ip_address.htm is text that says Your external IP is

#9 In the Apple Utility, you should see the same IP Address.

#10 If you do not, please report back that fact.

#11 In the Apple Utility go to Network.

#12 What is the Starting and Ending IP Address?
