I have TV and Internet. Can I use my own router that does not have a coax port? I read that you can Contact Verizon and ask them to change from coax WAN to Ethernet WAN. I tried this and they said since I have TV I need the a router w a coax cable. Is this true? Does anyone know a router that will work. I don't want to keep renting. Thank you.
Solved! Go to Correct Answer
You need a router with MoCA interface. TV STBs need to pull guide data off the Internet through MoCA, and Verizon STBs need to see a Verizon router.
You can buy a used G1100 router off Ebay for less than $40. It does the job.

That's correct. Those television capabilities are built into the router.
There are a couple of options.
While it is common to rent the router from Verizon, the G3100 can be purchased outright. I don't know what percentage of subscribers do, but, the option is there.
The prior router, the G1100, can be purchased online and activated on the network. Like the 3100, it provides the necessary coaxial cable connector.
