Setting a static ip on local machine

Hello,

I'm trying to assign a static ip to one of my pc's and I'm new with the whole DSL thing which is different than I'm used to. I finally found my primary and secondary DNS ip's found on the Connection Summary page that I will put in my TCP/IP settings in windows but I have a question before I do that. Are the primary and secondary DNS ip's going to change when/if I reset my router or I loose power? I have the Versalink 7500 if it matters.

#1 There are pros and cons of where you set the DNS Servers that you want to use.

For more info see the info at http://www.grc.com/dns/configuring.htm

#2 To answer your question:

If your set the DNS Servers on the comptuer, it will not matter if you reset the router OR if the router looses power.

Otherwise, the DNS Servers in the router might change which will change the DNS Servers your computers will use if you reset the router OR if the router looses power.
