On the 16th July the router was automatically upgraded and re-started. I also selected the "self-organizing network" feature.
Ater re-starting the router we have had issues with conectivity to streaming services such as HULU and Amazon Alexa no longer finds radio stations on "Tune-In radio".
I have des-selected the SON and used the FIOS app to trouble shoot the system - which appears to work for a short while but then internet connectivity drops dramatically.
There doesn't seem to be any way to return the router to the original settings prior to the upgrade - please advise!!

Found the menu where you can reset the router to a previous setup.
Restored it to the oldest one and it now works perfectly!
Personally i would buy a better router like a netgear or asus or tp link.
make sure it has external antennas and AC wifi.
now if you have tv with fios, you will need a moca adapter and a splitter.
you then give back the verizon g1100 and get a receipt. And you save $144 a year.
huge savings going from year to year.
Unfortunately I bought the router so won't get those savings! I have 2 other routers in the house including a new ASUS which all have the same problems (the others are on MOCA boxes).
Testing the router gets a time out - failed message using the speedtest.
So whilst I suspect the Quantum router I don't know why it woudl impact all my other routers too!

Restored it to the oldest one?
Way to go Verizon. Roll out some sort of half baked upgrade and put your users through all kinds of gyrations just to keep the Internet working and they end up having to roll back to before the upgrade.
Believe it or not, Verizon customers are not all ex-phone company technical employees. Whatever happened to Human Factors and Usability?
