Why im getting slow download. my actual download is 900kb to 1mb per second. My modem is westell 6100 using windows 7 home premium 64 bit. Is there any other solution to increase the speed at least close enough to my speed plan. BTW i tried the power cycle, checking all filters & etc. but none of them helps to increase the speed. I hope someone can help me.
#1 Try to go to http://192.168.1.1/ .
#2 Then Choose Troubleshooting, and then click Transceiver Statistics.
#3 If Troubleshooting does not exist try go to System Monitoring, Advanced Monitors, and then choose Transceiver statistics. Post up the information you see on that page.
#4 If you are prompted for a Username and Password, try one of the following:

You have just over 10mbps on the downlink, and just over 1mbps on the uplink, so you are at the bottom of the 10mbps plan capability. The Line losses suggest that short of moving closer to the central office, there is little you can do to improve your speed on the downlink. 1mb/sec=8mbps. At best you should be able to get to about 1.25mb/sec with your connection, that assumes no retries, no network congestion, and adequate receive buffers as well as adequate bandwidth available all the way to the other end, and sufficient resources to utilize the bandwidth on the server. That is a lot of if's...
There is no optimizer for Windows Vista and Windows 7, but there are documented way to fix the buffer 'windows' are much larger than default sizes, which may help performance. My experience is you usually have to run fairly hefty data transfer applications to get Windows7/Vista to automagically roll out the buffering for you.
