Recently, I upgraded to 50/25 fios from 25/25 and installed a new Rev. I router. Since then I have had upload speed problems, and Verizon even sent me a replacement router. All connections are hard wired using Cat 5e or Cat 6 cables.
Today, I tried to upload some large files (2-4 GB) and it was taking anywhere from 3 to 12 hours, indicating a very slow upload speed, probably less than 1 meg. I tried several different file transfer services and FTP servers, and all were glacially slow. However, since my internet speed looks fine when testing using the offical Verizon site (to the closest server), they won't look into the matter any more beyond resetting my ONT, which didn't help.
When I test using any other web site, the upload speed is always very fast (over 50 meg), but upload is always far below what I should be getting (5 meg or lower). If I test using the official Verizon site connecting to one of their servers farther away, the download speed stays the same, but the upload speed drops drastically. Verizon tech support didn't care about this since they only consider the test to their closest server as valid.
Also, Verizon has another speed test web site (link below) that they refuse to acknowledge the existence or the results of that consistently shows that I have low upload speeds. As usual, my download speed is fine.

My upload speeds were never a problem until I "upgraded" to a faster internet speed. I need to move a lot of large files often and need this to work better, but it seems like Verizon techs just want to get rid of me because it checks out on their end and it passes the only speed test that they will consider.
Any ideas what else I can try? I guess I could reinstall my old "slow" Rev. D router, but that seems like a step backward, and I would lose the gigabit LAN and N wireless improvements.
Upload speed just tested at only 5 Meg on the official Verizon site, so I am called Verizon again to see if I could get anywhere. Again, they had me run the Verizon Network Diagnotic Test, which always stalls on the last of the 3 operations (analyzing - in progress) and never gives a result.
As usual, upload speeds are at 55-60 meg using just about any online test to any server, but upload speeds are only 1-5 meg.
4 calls to Verizon over an hour each call. 2 new routers. Still not working right.
A repair tech came out today and upload speed was indeed slow, even from before the ONT with his device, so no issues inside my house or my home equipment. When the office switched me back to 25/25 the upload speed was fine. Someone at the office told him that the order had been entered wrong and the Pong was off by one number or something like that, and they put me back to 50/25. After that the speed tested better, but soon after it started testing slow and he came back.
Again, because the upload speed looked okay when testing on the official Verizon site (only to the closest server), the next tech person the repairman spoke to said that it tested fine and she closed my ticket. I had a sympathetic repairman, but the office wouldn't help him. They don't seem to realize that no one just connects to only their closest server when using the internet, and won't accept that there is a problem.
However, any time I connect to any other server further away (even on Verizon's test site), the upload speed drops drastically, but download stays the same. If I connect to a Verizon server across the country on the official Verizon site, the download speed is always above 55M, but upload is only 1M. I would expect both upload and download speeds to be affected proportionally, but only upload speeds are degraded for me.
When I test by downloading/uploading files via YouSendIt or WeTransfer, upload speed is usually only 1/10 of download speed and it should be half.
Verizon won't acknowledge that there is an issue, and it looks like it will take 12 hours to upload the 4GB file I need to send. I would rather have a 25/25 that works correctly than a 50/25 that doesn't really work right.
Does anyone know what the real issue could be?
Can anyone please test their speed using the official Verizon site, and report back here if their speeds drop off drastically or not (specifically upload vs. download) when selecting a server farther away)? Just want to see how it works for others using FIOS.

Second technician came out today, replaced ONT, checked all wiring, all crossconnects redone, etc. Still poor upload speeds when testing to any other server except my closest Verizon server. Still very slow when actually uploading files or emailing large attachments.
Attached is a real world screen shot showing sustrained upload speeds to a website server in another part of the country. I'm maxing out my 35 mb/s upload speed.
It sounds to me like you may have unreasonable expectations though....that expectation being that Internet speeds will remain constant no matter how far the data has to travel, and throug how may servers. Also, email is not a partciular speedy format. Even though I can routinely max out my upload and download service (75/35) with other formats, uploading or downloading email attachements is always much slower. I typically see 400-500 kB/s upload or download with email, and that depends on which email server I'm using.
You might run a traceroute to a few servers your testing to. Or use PIngPlotter to run a test. Either may show if and where a bottleneck is happening between your location and the server your connecting to.
I am not uploading using email. I am using various methods such as uploading to various file sending sites (Hightail, WeTransfer, etc.), and also via FTP. I regularly need to transfer several GB of files.
I don't expect the speed to stay the same to distant servers, just not drop as drastically as it does. I am paying for 25 Meg upload speeds, and am acheiving less than 1 Meg sometimes, even within the US. If it dropped by half to 12 Megs, that would be a big drop, but I wouldn't be complaining, because that would still be usable for me. It used to work great, now it isn't. It is noticeably worse than I had years ago when my FIOS speed was at 15/5 or a few months ago when it was 25/25. Also, the download speed never decreases at all to any server, which is odd. Only my upload speeds drop off drastically.
Running traceroute now. On 64 hops and still hasn't completed, but shows high and progressively increasing latency starting a few hops in while still on Verizon's servers. Will post traceroute when complete.
Can anyone please interpret this for me and let me know what they think the problem might be?

What I can tell from that trace is the connection is OK until an Amazon Data Service server in Ireland. That's step 12. After that point the rest of the peers may have pinging blocked, or the connection may be failing for some unknown reason. In any case, you're getting out of Verizon's network and to the other side of the Atlantic where the problem appears.
I'm not familiar with WeTransfer but it seems as if they're using Amazon servers. It might be worth contacting WeTransfer tech support, if they have tech support, and send them that traceroute. They may have an answer what's causing the problem and/or what can be done about it.
Or....maybe someone else here will come along with a better idea.
edit: FWIW, you didn't mention what client you're using to make those file transfers with but I've have very good luck with FTP and SFTP transfers using WinSCP.
Thanks for the info. Isn't it an issue that at hop 7 (alter.net - Verizon business server apparently) that after that the ping is much higher and then stays high from that point?
I am using a Mac, so I'm using Fetch for FTP, and also direct peer-to-peer transfers using Dropbox and Rumpus server software.
