Hi there,
I own a Westell Model 7500 Modem. I'm having difficulty accessing websites that have :8080, 8000 or 8443 in them (there may be more ports unavailable). Attempting to access such websites gives me a connection timed out error at home, however, I have no trouble accessing them using my friend's, coffee shop, or my school's network. CanYouSeeMe.org also says they can't see those ports either for the same reason.
Is this a problem with my router or firewall? Is this easily fixable? (I am not the most tech savy person...) Any advice would be helpful since my university uses :8080 and :8443 for some of my course materials and email...
Thanks in advance!

Probably is a Firewall issue, as Verizon doesn't block ports except for 25 outbound, and in some areas, perhaps Port 80 inbound (to stop people from running HTTP servers). Log into the Westell 7500 at http://192.168.1.1/ and visit the Firewall settings. Make sure the Firewall is set to No Security, or Low Security, as anything higher will most likely cause the problems you are having.
If you need a login, try:
admin/password
admin/password1
admin/admin
admin/admin1
In addition, it never hurts to check your PC's own Firewall out to see if it's being too aggressive. Give that a quick disable to see if that also helps.

Thanks! That did it! 🙂
Glad to hear it's all solved! 🙂
