Everyone knows that Verizon would like to overturn the FCC's open-internet order, and run the web like cable TV. Constricting content on a pay-to-play basis and throttling internet speeds and completely {word filter avoidance} the online experience. Why should I pay for this **bleep**? The answer is, I am not going to.

I hear you there. All I'd want an ISP to do is provide an onramp and offramp to a public network. It's what is known as a dumb pipe. Maintain a dumb pipe status, and you have little to worry about, both from a technical standpoint and from a customer service standpoint.
