Upgrading Verizon Speed

My son is currently am paying for 25 up and 25 down, if you pays for 50/50 will that have any impact on the speed or coverage area of the wifi?

No. Upgrading speed with not change your wifi coverage. Since you have an older 2.4 GHz Verizon router, it is unlikely you get over 30 mbps on wifi. That being said, you only need 25 mbps to stream 4K so 30 mbps might be ok in your situation. To get better speeds and coverage you will need to upgrade to a newer router.
