Using an old router
Zev1
Newbie

A friend gave me a used Verizon router. A Verizon technician is coming to my apartment to set up the WIFI (not getting TV).

Can I use the router my friend gave me in a new location? Will I have to know any passwords my friend may have changed? Is there anything I need to do before the technician comes? Thanks!

I am getting the 200 mb/s plan. Will a router that is a couple of years old be too slow for this?

What model is it?

You will either need to know the password (if the router has a sticker with admin password try that) or go through the procedure to factory reset your router.

Does your friend know if they purchased it? If not, Verizon may say they need to charge you a monthly fee.

Probably not too old for that level speed.
