I would like to install another security application (Zonealarm) to replace the Verizon McAfee application. I trust that this is not a problem and that it can be done. Are there any recommendations for doing this?

Short answer is yes, it can be removed. Is this what you had in mind? http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/zonealarm-free-antivirus-firewall.htm. Before you install it or any other Suite fully remove VZ/MCafee if you run into any issues http://download.cnet.com/3028-2096_4-10687648.html?c=SEMYAHOO&s=fivemill&pid=dlcom_sem&aid=Revo%20Un...
Revo is an excellent program removal tool.
Personally I use Windows 7 with Windows firewall, MicroSoft Securtiy Essentials (AV) and Malwarebyes Anti Malware free version for on demand scanning only.

Thanks. I check out the removal tool. Too often the basic methods don't get it all.
