Verizon appears unwilling to admit that the widespread DSL issue reported by customers in the last few days is a result of the company, not the user. To continue to charge monthly fees for services not rendered is fraud.
I would recommend that if you have a minute, and a working internet connection, that you file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Their online complaint form is found at https://econsumer.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/.
File enough complaints, and we may actually get a response from this ridiculous company.
Complaints are certainly warranted. Even Verizon's business partners (resellers) are openly complaining.

They seem to be marginally more forthcoming about acknowledging problems, probably because it's a much more visible forum than this one. The official Verizon representatives are noticeable by their absence here during this continuing outage.
RalfN makes a great suggestion. I have rarely had extended outages but have never had a problem getting a credit on my bill for days when my internet service was very slow or not working at all.
