So my family is switching over to Verizon Highspeed DSL and when the package arrived with the modem I tried to set it up. I plugged in the power and phone cord to the old phone jack we have in our apartment. Then I followed the booklet that was in the box to verify/complete the verizon setup. The only problem is, is that the DSL light on the router is red. Verizon told us that since the internet is setup we did not need the technician to come and help us. Now we are stuck here with not internet and verizon being jackasses with the crappy over phone support.
Try connecting the DSL modem up to the Verizon NID / Demarc. If you came from a Cable company or Wireless provider which offered phone service, their technicians have to disconnect your home's wiring from the Verizon Demarc in order to prevent backfeeding service into Verizon's wiring.
