Verizon will not allow me to upgrade Dry Loop DSL????

I tried upgrading my DSL from the slow dry loop DSL plan to the high speed DSL plan. I tried to do this online after logging into my account -> it directed me to call the 800 -VERIZON number. I called the 800 number but they will not allow me to upgrade my plan. They said because my area was upgraded to fios, I can only stay with my current "grandfathered" plan or upgrade to fios.

Is this really the case?

I recently received an e-mail that I have 30 days to make these changes. But when I try, no luck. Has anyone else experienced these issues?

The short answer is yes. Read your terms of service. Verizon reserves the right to essentially terminate DSL services once FiOS is available in an area.

From personal experience, you are much better off upgrading to FiOS service. It is more expensive for Internet only. It is also not a little faster, it is a lot faster, and a lot more reliable. There are also no issues with Internet only service with FiOS, although if you are a cable subscriber, the Internet/TV double play package is often less expensive than the combination of Cable or Sat  and DSL (it was for me, and I got 7 times the speed, and no outages whenever it rained as a bonus).
