I've payed extra for the high speed internet which should be around 3.8 - 7 Mbps. When I run the speed test on the Verizon website I get about 1.1Mbps for the upload speed and .1 to .3 Mbps for the download speed. I've gone through the list of things to do (reboot modem, check for viruses, etc.) but nothing made a difference. I'm using a Verizon brand modem labeled GT704WGB. It's only 3 months old. The speed is slow with both the ethernet cable and with wireless. This speed is really too slow to view youtube videos. I've got Windows 7 and the Verizon optimizer says that Windows 7 has already optimized my PC. What should I try next? I live in Philadelphia. I don't know if location is a factor.
Visit http://192.168.1.1/ and locate the Status section of the ActionTec. It should mention information such as the speed the connection is running at, SN Margins, Attenuations as well as DSL Mode. Post up the informantion you see.
