On G1100 router, 2.4 ghz wireless access point is connected, but 5.0ghz wireless access point on g1100 router is disconnected. Is this a normal configuration? Can't both access points be enabled?

Just make sure the self organizing network is set to off. (SON)

if on you get the issues you describe.

now having said that you can access the router and turn either SSID off if desired.

2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz can be accessed separately but not with SON on.
