Westell 6100 as a Bridge to New Router?

I was thinking about getting a wireless router so that I could connect a laptop and a tablet to the internet occasionally. My connection now is a wired DSL connection with a Verizon Westell 6100 router. Can I purchase a router and connect it to the Westell 6100? Should I replace the Westell 6100 with something else? Any recommended models or bridging methods? This is for an apartment, not a house. I've been slow to change technologies; I don't want to break something that isn't broken.
Thank you.
