I have a Westell Versa Link Model 327W, and I cannot connect to the internet via the lan ports in the back of the modem. I can connect to the wireless internet just fine. I have already tried hard resetting the modem, and resetting back to default settings. Shouldn't lan connection ALWAYS work by default? I don't understand why I would even need to bother with the settings at all to get LAN to work.
When I connect an ehternet cable to a PC (tried 3 different PC's) it would detect a connection (aquiring ip address), and the immediately disconnect after 10 seconds or so. I cannot figure out why. I have tried two different ethernet cables as well.
Do I need to update the firmware? Could somebody please provide a link to where I can download it?
Thanks.

We couldn't find a solution to the problem. Verzion ended up replacing the modem with a newer model. You should probably do the same.
#1 With a computer that can access the net: Check the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS Servers on it.
For example if on Windows XP
a) Go to Start -> Run.
b) Type in cmd and press enter.
c) In the new window, called the command prompt, type in ipconfig /all and press enter.
#2 Go to the Default Gateway and log-in.
#3 If you are prompted for a Username and Password, try one of the following:
admin/password
admin/password1
admin/admin
admin/admin1
Your Verizon username/password
#4 Are you using the White and Blue or the Red and Black Firmware ?
#5 Which LAN ports did you try connecting to ( E1, E2, E3, E4 ) ?
#6 Can other computer access the net using the wireless connetion?
I am having the same issue as well. So I will be keeping tabs on this thread
