Why does Verizon not support Windows 8 for wi fi? Are they planning on supporting Windows 8?
Solved! Go to Correct Answer
Verizon wi fi for hot spots does not work with Windows 8. For verification go to FAQs about Verizon Wi-Fi for FiOS Internet,
http://www.verizon.com/Support/Residential/Internet/fiosinternet/networking/setup/wi-fi/124650.htm , and click on How do I know if my laptop or netbook is compatible with Verizon Wi-Fi? . Verizon wireless home network does work well with Windows 8.
Since you can't even download the wi fi for hot spots software if you have Windows 8, I don't know how to use compatability mode to get around the problem,
Wifi works with Windows 8. What issue are you having?
Thank you for responding. I registered for Verizon wi fi in hot spots using my desktop computer. Later when I tried to download the software for wi fi to my laptop computer, I got the message that my laptop which has windows 8 did not meet requirements. I then found looking at system requirements that Wi Fi was only compatible with Windows XP and Windows 7.
8 and 7 are the same. Try running in compatibility mode.
When attempting to download the Wi Fi software, I get a message that my laptop computer does not meet system requirements. I click on system requirements and I get the message:
Verizon Wi-Fi is compatible with
The 32-bit version of Windows XP with Service Pack 3
The 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows Vista
The 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 7
It does not list Windows 8. I don't know why it would not meet system requirements. It is a late model Lenovo and works fine as a part of a wireless home network.
