Wifi problem

My Mbps is only 80 while the plan says its 300mbps, this is with ethernet and nothing else connected to the wifi. Could there be an explanation of this? I plugged it through a router with no other ethernet cables connecting to anything else as well as it being ethernet only. I have reseted the OTV and router numerous times yet im still acheving a 70-90 download mbps.

Is the router a Verizon unit or something else....Linksys, Netgear...etc?
Has the Ethernet cable between the ONT and the router been replaced with a known good example?
Can the ONT be power cycled and the Internet retested?
