internet while on vacation

Does anyone know if there is a provision by Verizon to support  a small amount of data available, even low transmission speed,  for internet while the account is on vacation suspense.  Basically to be used for wireless internet thermostats for example.   It would be nice to be able to control those devices without having full internet support while away.

The account is generally all or nothing, since Verizon doesn't have a means (and shouldn't) of distinguishing traffic. They can only give you your current package, turn it off all together (vacation suspend), or decrease your speed if you're going to be gone for a while.
