login issues to get into the routers admin site

the 192.168.1.1 site I enter in my username and password but after say 1 minute I get connection expired please try again I get this again and again. I did a factory reset and the reset of the router still did not help. Any ideas?

What username and password are you using?

After a factory reset, the username is admin and the password is printed on the first line of the router service tag.  If you have an older router with no password printed on the first line of the label, use the router's serial number for the password.   The password is NOT the same as the wireless passphrase on the label.  Nor are the credentials the same as your VZ account.  Ignore the extra dots that appear.  That is a security feature.

As I understood your post, you are able to log in but don't stay logged in.  That is normal.  The router will time out after a set time period of inactivity.  The default should be 5 minutes.  And can be changed.  Go to Advanced >> System Settings and check Session Lifetime.

Not clear that is the OP's problem.  After doing a factory reset, session timeout should have reset to 600 seconds (10 minutes).

OP stated "I get connection expired" which is the message received after a timeout.  That message would not occur unless he had logged in.

Side note:  On my router the default session timeout is 5 minutes.

I can't even login and Verizon tech support told me it's normal that is a lie

factory reset the router and use the password printed on the router.

which version router you have?  gen 2 or gen 3?

My default is 600 seconds i.e. 10 minutes, that's how it came out of the box
