I replaced our modem in April, paid $40 plus $98 for inside service call. New modem, D Link DSL 2750B, works intermittently. I have called tech support numerous times. They "fix" it, but next day or 2 it is gone again.
I want a new modem at no more cost to me! How do I get this done? I am having trouble contacting a human!!
For instance, I was just on hold, then dumped? do you think AT&T would answer?

You don't get it done by complaining here. This is peer to peer support.
Not sure what warranty is given but hopefully its still in effect.
How sure are you that is the modem and not something else? Hopefully something else that you can get Verizon to fix.

The problem is not the modem. It is the signal coming into the modem. The line is bad somewhere if you keep losing synch.
