does the router suppose to turn off and back on every once in a while. just got my replacement and it does that .
NO.
Mine is always on...literally for years
It does however do a reboot when new firmware is received. But that is a fairly rare event.
There was a bug a few years ago that caused one of the model routers to reboot frequently if you had a specific configuration of hardware attached and certain settings, but that was fixed. Hopefully no new variation of that is now occurring.
