I have a Westell 7500-a190 modem without an antenna. My plan is for download speeds of 3-7 mb/s. At the moment, my download speed (based on the modem's configuration access page) is .768 mb/s. Everytime I reboot the modem I get a different speed. Most of the time I end up with speeds around .3-1.5 mb/s, rarely receiving the 3-7 mb/s that is to be expected. A logical person might ask: Why not just wait until you win the lottery of connection speeds and than be happy? The answer to that question involves the fact that usually within a short period of time after connecting, I disconnect. I can usually reconnect, but often with a much lower speed. Is there anything that can be done about this problem, or is it inherant to some Verizon customers?
These are usually isolated issues as they are dependant on per-connection conditions. Here it sounds like the copper circuit you're on has some sort of issue that is preventing the modem from getting the connection it should be able to get. Would you be willing to provide some Transceiver Statistics to us? You can find them if you go to http://192.168.1.1/htmlV/transtat.asp or by going to http://192.168.1.1/ by clicking System Monitoring, Advanced Monitors, and finally, Transceiver Statistics. A Screenshot or a Copy and Paste of the data will work.
