verizon fiber installation in my area

I have been informed that my high speed provider will be verizon in upstate N Y. I am a satellite user as I live in a rural area. After speaking with a NY state broadband rep. I am told that the work is in progress. I am wondering when this will be completed as I am really disapointed in the sat. speed and reliability. Any info is greatly appreciated

contact the http://www.dps.ny.gov which may have information but they mainly handle utilities like verizon when you have issues.
