3rd party modem router

I'm trying to use a TP-Link modem/router (TD-8580) to connect to my DSL. I can get a ASDL connection, but no internet connection. I've tried a variety of different configurations, but I'm beating my head against the wall. My modem's router shows that the DSL handshake happens, but then times out during PPP login.

Any ideas?

The VPI/VCI settings for Verizon are as follows:

- VPI:   0
- VCI: 35

Also note that many modems also support using LLC or VCMUX for the encapsulatuon. Make sure LLC is in use. You will find this setting usually in the same place as the VPI/VCI settings are located.
