The features detailed on Reddit are already implemented since the release of G3100. I can take your question to Verizon engineering for some insights.

That looks like a nice changelog of features. Tri-channel operation especially when an extender isn't using wireless uplink is a nice addition. Helps to get full use out of a Gigabit connection when clients can be split across 5Ghz radios.
