HSI ultimate plan being throttled at 10mbs to start

Just upgraded to the hsi dsl ultimate plan 10-15mbs. They customer service rep said something about being throttled at 10mbs and be monitered then will increase. I am getting the 10mbs dl which is great but when will it be increased to get my full capacity of what i pay for. I will be calling the cs hsi line today to try to figure this out. Anyone else have this issue?

Sounds similar to my experience.  I just upgraded to the 4-7mbps plan.  The absolute max download speed I have ever seen has been ~4.2mbps.  Technically, this is within their 4-7mbps promise.  This wouldn't be so bad if this is what I got all the time, but in the evenings between 5:00 and 11:00, it's anywhere between 0.5mbps and 1.2mbps.  I'll be doing some in-house wire tests this weekend, but I think the bottom line is that we're all SOL.  I'd think about a cable modem, but I hear horror stories about MediaCom, too.

Anyone know if Verizon posts any plans for when/where they'll be installing FIOS?

Maybe they are right on the other hand, maybe they are wrong.

Please answer as many as you can:

#1 What is the brand and model of your modem?

#2 What is the brand and model of your router?

#3 What is the brand and model of the NIC that your computer is using?

The reason why you didn't get set at 15Mbps could be from a few simple reasons. If you tell us which modem you have, we can help you obtain the Transceiver Statistics from the modem which will explain why or why not you should have a higher speed than 15Mbps.

Verizon does publish some information as to where they plan on expanding FiOS. I don't remember where exactly they are, but it gives you a general idea of where planned expansions are.

Additionally, slow-downs at night is due to a lack of capacity in the CO generally. Verizon needs to bring in more backhaul or otherwise increase capacity inside of the core network. Sometimes you can be moved to less congested circuits or DSLAMs, but there's no guarantees that there is one available.

I am using a Actiontec GT724WGR which is a modem and a router. I thought i remebered the cust service rep saying they would throttle me at 10 the moniter and go up but then when i called back today they said that thats all my dsl line handle. Not sure if the rep was very sure about this and it was very hard to understand what he was saying which was also very frustrating.

Hard to understand meaning his accent was very strong. Im tech savy and usually top out speeds with any modem but this is irritating that i pay for 10-15 and all i can get is the minimum. something is a little fishy to me.

Keep in minde that all Verizon provides is the 'on' and 'off' ramps to the internet.

Before going any further, please post your transceiver statistics, and let's see if you really are limited to 10mbps on that link, or the issue is furhter upstream (or downstream).

While I'm not the most familiar with the ActionTec modems, visit http://192.168.1.1/ and locate the Status/System Monitoring section of the modem. You'll see information such as Attenuation, SN Margin, DSL mode, etc. Copy and paste or screenshot the info you see in that section of the modem for us to see.

If you need a username and password, try the following:

admin/password

according to PC Wintech, that router should just be admin and password

Here are some screen shots

Looks like it will be located under Status > Local > Broadband status

They have SNR's listed there.
