Hello, i am inquiring about some of the limitations and drawbacks of FIOS vs. Cable (Router)

i am currently on a cable internet plan, and i know they do not support routers, verizion does. because of this lack of support i have little limitations on the rotuer, i currently have a linksys router (unsure about specific model, doesn't matter) which has both wired and wireless capablity. from what i've read and seen in my expeirence Verizion only allows wireless routers to be used by fios, which i know can be anywhere from 20-35% slower in speed, due to encryption, location, distance, obstacles - etc.

i was wondering if there is any way for me to get fios service, and get a router that supports both wireless and wired connection, as my household has a few computers which are more casual PCS, yet im an active gamer and i cannot afford to loose such bandwith, as having a router in the first place hinders my speed. if anyone has any information on this i would apprecaite it a ton, thank you for your time.

P.S. (I googled this already and found some guides on how to set up a linksys router but there were drawbacks in the FIOS TV service, which i will also be getting.)

The Verizon provided router supports both wired (4 ports) and wireless connections.

I hope these links help. I have run many different routers, and now I am back to running the Actiontec. Do not do much gaming or peer to peer.
