Replace ONT (with fiber interface on router)

I searched everywhere, and I see a number of posts and articles on using the RJ-45 port on the ONT, which, of course, I'm doing at the moment. Has anybody tried to go a step further and just hook their FIOS optical line (it's regular old LC fiber, in my case) to their router / edge device? I have a 10G core switch/router which could take the fiber, just not sure if Verizon supports this, or if they require the ONT for something more than media conversion and termination.

Must use ONT.

ONT supports multiple services on the fiber.

So router would have to be able to distinquish the signal for Internet from the one for POTS and TV.

Plus the ONT provides Verizon capability to disable services as required.
