Smart Devices Disconnecting from WiFi

I am having the same problem with my smart devices being disconnected from the WiFi. It went from everything working fine to unplugging my router every other day. I upgraded everything a few months ago, so I have the most updated router. I just was given an extender to see if that helps. Nope, still having to unplug the router. I am starting to get frustrated, because I am spending more money for equipment that does not seem to work very well. Any idea on a solution?
