I don't completely understand networking.
If I wanted to hook up a streaming media server, probably a NAS, as a DVR, but also for music & pictures, how do I do it? Do I connect the NAS directly to the ONT & then to the router or do I connect the ONT first to the router & then to the NAS?
Please explain it in laymans terms. Limit the networking lingo.

Wouldn't I need to hook up a monitor, keyboard & mouse to the NAS? I guess that the NAS would be connected to my Mac mini, right?

Depends on how its set up. A NAS can be set up on one device or router and be accessed by other devices on the same network. Not that i use one even though i can set one up through my netgear router on ready share *other manfacturers call the process something different*
